The Macon Board of Adjustment is a quasi-judicial body that acts on appeals for variances, special exceptions, and interpretations in the zoning regulations.
The Board of Adjustment holds public hearings and has the following powers:
- To hear and decide appeals where it is alleged that an administrative official made an error in the enforcement of the Zoning Ordinance, in accordance with Section 29-53.
- To decide any questions involving the determination of the location of any zoning district boundary, if the location is uncertain, in accordance with Section 29-55
- To grant variances from the strict application of the terms of the Zoning Ordinance, in accordance with Section 29-54.
- To allow special exceptions in accordance with Section 29-55 of the Zoning Ordinance.
Members of the Board of Adjustment base their considerations on testimony, exhibits, and arguments presented at the hearing as well as reports and inspections of the site.
The decisions of the Board of Adjustment are final but may be subject to court action.
