Trash Services

Please see the attachment, Trash & Recycling Schedule below for service days. Trash only collection is highlighted green. Trash and Recycling is highlighted yellow, and observed holidays (no trash or recycling services) are highlighted blue.

The City of Macon is serviced by Waste Management. All residents within city limits are billed for trash through their monthly utility bill.  You can find Macon's Services Days as well as observed holidays with the picture above or the attachment below. As a reminder, routes will be pushed back by one day following a holiday. For example, if Christmas Day is Tuesday and your normal service day is Wednesday, you will be serviced on Thursday. If your trash day is on Tuesday, it will be serviced on Wednesday. If a holiday falls on a weekend, there will be no delay in service. 

Normal hours of collection are to be from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday. All trash receptacles should be placed at the curb appropriately by 6:00 A.M. on the day of service.  Exceptions may be made only when the Contractor (Waste Management) has reasonably determined that an exception is necessary to complete collection of an existing route due to unusual circumstances or upon the mutual agreement of the City and the Contractor. 

In the event that a regularly scheduled collection is missed please call Waste Management at (866) 909-4458 or visit their website at home.wm.com/muni to reschedule missed collection. Missed collection is defined as your trash being set out on time, and the trucks do not come by to service your cans. If you do not have your trash set out on time WM will not consider this a missed service and will not return. 

** Citizens are allowed one bulk item per week. City Hall no longer schedules bulk items.  You will need to contact WM at (866) 909-4458 or visit their website at www.wm.com/muni. Please follow the prompt when contacting WM by phone.

** Please call City Hall for any other trash related questions at (660) 385-6421.

** City Hall does not oversee the Maple Hill Landfill. You will need to contact Waste Management for any information in regard to the landfill.

** You can reach Waste Management at (866) 909-4458. The Maple Hill Landfill is located at 31226 Intrepid Road, Macon, MO 63552. Their business hours are Monday - Friday 7:30AM - 4:30PM.
